Methuen, Mass.—January 28, 2008—Johnson Medtech, the medical products network of Johnson Electric, one of the world’s largest providers of motion actuators, today announced that it will feature applications of its motion-based products at MD&M West 2008. Taking place at the Anaheim Convention Center on January 29–31, MD&M West is the largest event for medical manufacturing on the West Coast. Johnson Medtech Network companies Nanomotion and Parlex will demonstrate their cutting-edge technologies for the medical device industry at booth # 1193 at the show.
Parlex will showcase its Polymer Thick Film (PTF) flexible circuits, which can be bent and folded into many different configurations and easily packaged into the small spaces required by many personal medical device applications. PTF circuits take advantage of high speed screen printing techniques, as well as ink and dielectric materials formulated by the Parlex Development team, to provide high-yield circuits for medical applications requiring inexpensive low power circuits—including disposable cardiac and oximetry sensors, instrument membrane keypads, nerve stimulation therapeutic devices and iontophoretic drug delivery patches.
Nanomotion will demonstrate its MAK-AF Auto Focus linear stage. The Auto Focus stage is designed to meet the demanding requirements of auto focus applications in medical imaging. Used for cell analysis, tissue imaging, microscopy DNA sequencing, the Auto Focus stage provides high-speed move and settle capabilities to follow cell terrain and manage rapid changes in depth of field. The Auto Focus stage features a counterbalance spring to manage the weight of lens objectives and uses precision crossed roller bearings with an anti-migration device for robust performance and long life.
“As the medical device industry continues to push the boundaries of precision, efficiency and portability, Johnson Medtech is committed to providing the advanced design, prototyping and manufacturing capabilities our customers need while delivering the fastest time to market,” said Jim Dick, senior vice president of Johnson Electric. “We look forward to providing attendees at MD&M West with a demonstration of the innovative technologies produced by Parlex and Nanomotion, as well as a discussion of the competitive edge that Johnson Medtech provides to its customers.”
